Labor Day Weekend

Happy Labor Day!
I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend off!

Kyle and I decided to explore Columbus and its surrounding area this weekend since we're still new to the city. After dropping Ruffy off at PetsHotel for a fun day of Doggie Day Camp, we headed to the Village of Granville, OH, a quaint, New England-style community located about 40 minutes east of Columbus. Granville is a charming town, with locally-owned retail stores and restaurants, and historic homes and churches. We had a good time walking around this cute little town.

Our next stop is Newark, OH, a town east of Granville. It is home to the Longaberger Company, an American manufacturer of handcrafted maple wood baskets. Its corporate headquarters looks like a giant market basket! Pretty cool architecture ey!

After a brief stop there, we returned to Granville for a quick lunch. We enjoyed yummy chicken wraps and cool beers on the balcony at Brews Cafe, then we proceeded down the block to Whit's Frozen Custard for dessert!

On our way back to Easton, we spontaneously decided to drive to downtown Columbus. On Friday, we went to Short North (a hip area with art galleries, restaurants, shops & entertainment -- kind of like the Crossroads Arts District combined with the Power & Light District in KC) but we haven't really visited the downtown yet. So, we took a turn and headed downtown toward the Riverfront. We took a stroll by the Genoa Park and the Riverfront, found a shaded bench, sat down and enjoy the gorgeous downtown Columbus skyline!

Time passes by real quickly when you're having a great time. Before we knew it, it was past 5pm and we decided to head back to Easton to pick up Ruffy. In the evening after dinner, we went out for a movie. What a relaxing end to a wonderful day!

Here are some pictures we took on our short roadtrip. Enjoy!
